In 2016, Jonathan entered digital sculpting — a medium long mythologised during his time at Central Saint Martins in the early '90s. The arrival of 3D printing allowed for a decisive break: bypassing the wax stage, investing bronze directly from print.
His practice now inhabits this post-material threshold, currently working on a novel kind of trompe-l'œil — polychromatic oil painting on a bas-relief 3D printed surface. The next evolution is always imminent.
Jonathan has assisted artists including Katrin Fridriks, Yinka Shonibare, Daniel Lismore, Rina Sawayama, and George Ezra with 3D projects. He is based in Twickenham where he runs his digital studio and multiple 3D printers.
